Solar & Backup Power: Why Load Profiling Comes First

How understanding your real electrical load helps avoid an inverter and battery system that is too small, too large or poorly prioritised.

Start with the loads that matter

A backup system does not have to power everything in the building. The first step is separating critical loads from loads that can remain off during an outage.

Homes and businesses prioritise differently

A home may prioritise lights, security, internet, refrigeration and selected outlets. A business may need point-of-sale systems, networking, access control, office equipment or cold storage.

Peak load is different from daily energy use

Equipment may use a large amount of power for a short period or a smaller amount for many hours. Both behaviours matter when selecting inverter and battery capacity.

Design for maintainability and future growth

A practical system should leave room for sensible expansion, use clearly separated circuits and be easy for future technicians to understand and service.

Important: This article is general information, not a remote diagnosis. Electrical and refrigeration faults should be assessed according to the actual property and equipment involved.
